On Saturday May 6, HSST participated in Genesis Farm’s 2023 Spring Open House with a booth offering information and merchandise to visitors. In keeping with the theme of sustainable farming, HSST brought examples of farming and food-related implements that included a stone mortar and pestle used by local Native Americans more than a thousand years ago, plus iron tools used by Stillwater farmers in the 19th century. Genesis Farm, located in Blairstown, NJ, is a 226-acre ecological center and working farm founded in 1980. HSST is pleased to cooperate with local organizations such as Genesis Farm to highlight local history, traditions, and community networks.

Sunday May 7th HSST was invited to participate in Stillwater Recreation Commission and Swartswood State Park’s Water Safety Fair. It was a beautiful day for water demonstrations, water education materials and games for the kids. HSST provided some history on the Swartwood Lake.

Last, but certainly not least, Sunday May 7th was the first open Museum hours! This year the Academy Museum will be open the first Sunday of each month May through October from 2pm to 4pm. We look forward to seeing everyone out and about.
