On June 11th 2006 members of the Stillwater Historical Society and visitors shared a happy gathering to celebrate the coming of spring and harvest of strawberries. As usual members of the society led by President Michael Wiley spent Saturday picking the ripened fruit. The Sunday event lasted three hours from 1:00 to 4:00 PM during which time other members were hard at work preparing and serving the delicious fruit. There was a very good turnout despite the chilly weather. Many familiar Stillwater residents came to support the effort making the event a financial success. It is inspiring to witness the hard work of members in conducting this event, which is performed with smiles of good will and cordiality. Congratulations are in order to all who contributed their work and talents.
That air of good will prevailed among the visitors who were entertained by Don Thoenig playing his guitar while encouraging visitors to sing-a-long. Children and adults were delighted with his rendition of “Puff the Magic Dragon” and other diversified songs.
